OK, I have test binaries for kdebase-bin and kmilo prepared in my PPA.
If you would like to test it, add this to your /etc/apt/sources.list :
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/lure/ubuntu gutsy main
Then run apt-get update and upgrade.

Regression: RealTek 8139 hard-locks system on installation/m
This workaround with Windows driver setting also worked for my no-name desktop
with RTL-8100B/8139D chipset.
Changing package to Linux kernel (7.10 version) as Linux kernel should properly
initialize HW even if Windows sets some strange settings.

Gutsy network-manager was changed to only manage interfaces that are not
defined in /etc/network/interfaces file.
You should comment out your wired interface in order to be managed in
knetworkmanager.
