It is also the fact that /proc/acpi/battery/*/* does not report any
change in battery state either, so I suspect this bug may be also kernel
issue (unless acpi-support is not doing something it should, like
Unload/reload of battery kernel module did not help either.

Perl backend script always adds hostname to the localhost. I have
changed this script now to just use "localhost" and actually remove
hostname as alias from localhost entry (this will fix it for users that
will upgrade on first use of knetworkconf).

Not much we can do about it - powersave does not have autodetection of
laptop variants as acpi-support (default powermgmt in Ubuntu) has.

We can only present 4 states with the icon, so we do not have a lot of
flexibility.
There was complaints before that battery shows full icon, but it is only at
85%, so we have taken more conservative approach and we use 100% full icon only
when battery is on 95% or more. Similarly we use empty i

I can confirm the same problem on HP nw8240 (ATI FireGL V5000, 1920x1200) with
Kubuntu Knot2 Desktop CD.
Usplash works at the beggining (with test image on gray background), but then
it switches to horizontal white strip pattern (one thin line every 3-4 mm) and
blinking cursor in upper-left corn

Kubuntu Knot2 Desktop CD on desktop PC (i386) with 120 GB HDD with two
NTFS partitions and old Edgy install (/ and /home ext3 and swap).
When I came to Step 5 (disk partitioning), ubiquity was doing something
for a long time (1-2 min) with only
/var/log/installer/syslog

I can confirm this on HP nw8240 with ATI FireGL V5000. When usplash is used
doring the boot, I do not get back into X display, but only get horizontal
white stripes (as already described in bug 58455).
If I remove "splash" from GRUB options, resume after hibernate works.

This looks OK.
Note: ubuntu-desktop already moved powernowd to Recommends (not yet true
for kubuntu-desktop) so in near future we would be able to remove
"Provides" for powernowd. I do not know if similar will be done for
apmd.
