I had exactly the same problem, and found by chance exactly the same
solution. I thought it was my MP3-player the cause of the issue, because
it was happening in both my ubuntu x64 laptop and my ubuntu x64 desktop.
The same machines booting windows have no problems.

Digging a little deeper, I found out that the reason, at least for me,
was a missing NetworkManager Applet.
I had my network configured manually and uninstalled the Applet.
When I reinstalled it, I could subscribe to Ubuntu One.
I left my manual

I can confirm this bug with Firefly version svn-1696 and Banshee 1.7.0.
The share appears in the list and shows its name (the one i configured).
So far it works. But when i click on the share, it says: "Unable to
connect to music share".
I attached a log: I just opened Banshee, clicked on the sha
Forgot to say: it works really fine with Rhythmbox 0.12.5.

Same thing here with the 9.10beta. Every time I want to do an upgrade,
inform fails. Think we have to uninstall it till this problem is fixed?

I've tried around a bit and found out that now, the problem occurred
also in 16.04. Not sure if I just didn't try enough before or if the
problems really wasn't there in 16.04 two months ago.
However, I've got the problem solved now. I updated the BIOS and the firmware
using Lenovo system update
