When I run ntpd, then my clock is NOT synchronized at all, my clock
drifts and after few days is 10 minutes off from pool.ntp.org
When I run by hand: ntpdate pool.ntp.org then time corrects itself.

also ntpdate also fails to synchronize the time if offset if less then 0.5
second - so when it uses adjtime()
but works fine for biggest drifts, when settimeofday() is used (according to
man ntpdate)
perhaps ntpd tries to use adjtime() and thats why it
"RAM state will generally degrade over time," <-- um. No it's
not how it works. It must a driver/X error, not "ram expiring".
I am having same problem, but on all GFX cards, I am reporting it as a separate
bug (compilation).

Ok, but after more testing it would seem that similar partial-redrawing bugs
are more common:
1) also on intel laptop
2) also in other application (I use Konsole the most so noticed it there)

It is very easy to hit ctrl+q instead of ctrl+w and close all for
example 20 tabs in 4 windows at once.
Or perhaps: allow ctrl+q but ALWAYS for confirmation? In addition ask
on closing multiple tabs, but that warning can be disabled.

ubuntu 9.04 amd64 installed cleanly on amd64 PC runs very slowly.
Sometimes it runs ok, sometimes everything runs very slow - firefox, and all
other programs.

Switching desktops still fail in 9.04 amd 64, although in far less epic
manner.
Now the problem seems to appear only when I use 2 displays (Xinerama),

It indeed IS the case for nvidia, I myself seen it on both nvidia and
intel.
Perhaps in more recent ubuntu nvidia's version works better, didnt test enough.
On nvidia it was less likely to happen, perhaps because usually more video ram
(to be used, avoid re-using of not-cleared pixmaps)
