I can confirm the same issue with MS Wireless Keyboard 3000 (USB).
Multimedia keys worked fine on 8.04 but when I installed 8.10 stopped
working.
Has anyone found a solution?

after language updates of 2008.02.12, if language is set to en_CA,
launching kde apps results in an error like this:

Try using qt-language-selector and rebooting after that. It solved for
me.
