Some time ago in ubuntu.es they half jokingly decided to run a poll
about this. The question was "What would you do if you got the 'dpkg
--configure -a' error?" A lot of people __really__ didn't know what to
do in case they got this error.
I know it's not too hard to find out what the error means,

I changed the GTK theme from "Use my KDE style in GTK applications" to
"Qt" and the problem stopped. The funny thing is that I switched the GTK
theme bacl to what it was (to see if that was causing the problem) and I
couldn't reproduce the bug anymore. Very weird.

Same problem, but I get this in dmesg when the keyboard stops working:

Sometimes I can do fine for hours at a time, sometimes it happens 5
minutes after I turn my laptop on.

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705/9400 with an ATI x1400 and Kubuntu Hardy.
When I close the lid the screen turns off as expected, when I open the
lid the screen's backlight turns back on, but the image stays black.
The only way out is alt+sysrq+b (or turning off the comp...)

I don't know how to make that driver work with my video card.
I tried this one instead:
