Binary package hint: evolution
Evolution was working perfectly for years. I installed the 5/29/2008
Hardy updates and now mail won't work at all.
The error I get when launching in a terminal is:

I removed nothing, all I did was click on "Update" in update-manager.
Yes, it fixes the problem. So we have two bugs: libnss3-0d was
incorrectly removed, and there is a missing dependency.

all wrong. Some pages display OK, but on many others the fonts are
either way too small or way too big.

More info:
I tried setting DPI to 96 in gdm.conf. Now GDM fonts look great, but
Firefox fonts are way too small on some pages, like Launchpad. If I
zoom in twice with Ctrl-+ it looks perfect.
When I set DPI to 48 (which I confirmed is the actual DPI of the screen)

I found some more info on this bug. It only appears on an upgrade from

Well it really sounds like the problem is some kind of race or
inadequate serialization between mail reading/deleting and new mail
coming in. It seems that 5 years of bug reports should be enough even
if the developers cannot reproduce the problem.

All I do to trigger the bug is ssh -X to the machine I want to upgrade,
su, and run apt-get update && apt-get upgrade.
Are you saying this is an unsupported upgrade method?
Why can't the application continue if it can't connect to X? This
should not be a fatal error.
Also, I think it's acceptab

It still feels wrong and bloaty that an upgrade script would have
anything to do with a GUI... If it works without X, why try to use X at
all?

It's especially bad because "Clear Private Data" has no effect - all

card as it bypasses dmix. Either the app needs to be upgraded to use

losing all my work several times because the default ctrl-alt-del action
is to log out rather than lock the screen as it has been in Windows
