The high load happens pretty much every time. I've disabled it and see
what happens today.
I usually have one main window and then a window for downloads. I
usually have a few tabs open, between 5 and 15 most of the time, though
ForecastFox is disabled and FF is restarted.
I have one window and four tabs and FF is running round 27% - 29% of the

Display - System Settings" in the system settings tool in administrator
mode, the next time I start X (usually on reboot) the resolution is all
wrong.

The dhcp client in Karmic Alpha is not connecting automatically. This
includes both when the machine starts up before the network switch as
well as after hot plugging the ethernet cable.
The expected behavior is like in kde3.5, when the line becomes active
again, the network
Grub2 is installed. I've tried changing /etc/boot/grub.cfg manually,
but it seems to be ignored by it on startup.
The settings set by default (or by running update-grub2 ) are these:
