System the text editor saves itself anytime the editor window looses
focus. I find it really annoying as I am constantly switching to another
window for information that needs to be copied and then pasted into the text
editor. Upon placing the focus on the text editor again,
ok good news. Pity 1.5 is not in xenial...

with Mate Tweak to redmond, and it solved the problem.
