I can report I've been seeing this problem also with the radeon driver.
Direct rendering still seems functional though.
I went ahead and added the freedesktop.org upstream bug to this tracker.
Based on the posts on that report, it seems like it is only a cosmetic
issue and does not inhibit aiglx o
Public bug reported:
I am running Edgy Eft with latest updates as of Oct. 14th. I had
rhythmbox playing one of the pre-installed internet radio stations while
simultaneously adding a podcast feed when it crashed. Firefox was the
only other open program at the time. See attached crash report.

Public bug reported:
I used upgrade-manager to dist-upgrade to the latest edgy packages.
When it was downloading packages, I noticed it displayed 'k/s' as
download speed, when it should be 'kb/s'.

I just retraced my steps to reproduce it, and it indeed happened again.
Adding a podcast feed while playing internet radio does seem to make
rhythmbox crash.
I'll retrace it again with debug symbols installed and report back
what's going on.

Might this be a clue?
Which Ubuntu version are you running (Dapper, Edgy, etc.?) Where did you
get the flash plugin? Was it from the Ubuntu repos, or a third party
site such as Adobe? Did you use any automated scripts (easyubuntu,
automatix) to install flash? Having more info and specifics would be
much appreciated.
Thanks for the bug report. However, your crash report does not include
any debugging symbols (which makes a crash report more than useless).
If possible, install the firefox debugging package [sudo aptitude
install firefox-dbg] then submit a new crash report. Having the
debugging symbols will gre
Thanks for the report Jim. It would be useful to know more precisely what
circumstances caused the crash. The most important question is whether you can
reproduce the crash. If you can't, then there is really nothing anyone can do
to help.
If you can, then document precisely the steps neces
Thanks for the report David. More info would be needed to fully
diagnose your problem. How did you upgrade to Dapper? Was it a clean
install, or did you use update-manager or dist-upgrade from the previous
Ubuntu version?

OK Mike, I think I have found the problem. After some Googling and
searching on Launchpad, it seems that the VIA K8M800 chipset doesn't
want to play nice with the provided VIA video driver. This is more than
likely caused by VIA's reluctance to provide specs of the chipset to

Hey Andy,
the problem as I take it is that the VIA K8M800 is a relatively new chipset,
and the current via-driver has not been updated to properly support it. I'm
not 100% sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if this were due to the via-driver

You've probably seen that there are multiple bug reports for this issue
