I can confirm that the memory leak seems to be gone with xserver-xorg-
video-intel v 2.7.0 though there are still some (unrelated?) error
messages in Xorg.0.log:
(EE) intel(0): Unable to write to SDVOCTRL_E for SDVOB Slave 0x70.
(EE) intel(0): First SDVOB output reported failure to sync
(EE) intel
This behaviour seems to be caused by UXA hardware acceleration of the
intel xorg video driver. So this does not concern the kernel

and the command line, but not from Acrobat Reader 8 (Version 8.1.1)

This problem seems to resolved with todays kernel update to
2.6.31-16.52. At least on my Eee PC 1000H switching wi-fi on and off
works with Fn+F" without problems.
