message before. We are just starting with first lucid tests, so we did
not have a similar crash until now under lucid, I will report it when it
happens.

I found the reason for this behavior. It is a bug in teh upstart script
/etc/init/gdm.conf
Inside the script there is a test which dm should be started. If not gdm
it exits, but it exits with EXIT_STATUS=1, which then triggers the start
of the failsafe session.

if some NFS3 mount is used in /etc/fstab, anything work, statd ist
started automatic, but if there is no NFS3 mount inside fstab statd is

(maybe sssd will help too)
