Binary package hint: alsa-utils
After upgrade from Intrepid (update-manager -d) file /sbin/alsactl
disappeared, but still checked for existence by /etc/init.d/alsa-utils
and /sbin/alsa, which leaves me no sound. Fixed by making symbolic link.

Workaround didn't work... It results either in reboot or distorted
compiz windows. One time everything was good till I started firefox -
then in hanged...

Lucid installed with encrypted homedir option and ext4 partitions.
When fsck fails to fix errors automatically during boot, it waits for manual
intervention with root shell. But before shell launches, ecryptfs tries to
mount homedir, whic

Fix from http://www.ubuntu-es.org/node/167890 works for me -
add
echo US15 | tee /proc/acpi/wakeup
echo USB0 | tee /proc/acpi/wakeup
to /etc/rc.local before "exit 0"
