Sound is now working again. Right clicked on speaker - Volume Control:
Nvidia CK804-all settings set to off/minimum under Playback tab.
Adjusted the sliders and I have sound again. CD works fine, system

No driver has been manually configured for sound (or for Hardy 8.0.4.1).
Sound works fine in Hardy with no errors. Logging off and on again is
not a problem as sound settings are saved between sessions. There is no

I've just tried to simulate the same problem with Jaunty, without success.
Kernel is 2.6.28-11-generic i686. Evolution version is 2.26.1. Regarding
emails, how many can I keep in Evolution (I have over 500 in the version that
fails) ? The difference between the two is that the failing version I
Jaunty kernel 2.6.28-11-generic (i686) with f-spot version 0.5.0.3 has the same
problem.
Plug in a camera and f-spot I download some files from a camera with f-spot
saving them in the default (home) folder. I run the slide show and everything
is fine. Close f-spot. Now open Nautilus and rename
Problem resolved. For some reason search was active. Searching for white space
fixed the problem.

I've just done a reinstall of the 2.6.28-11 kernel and upgraded to the
-13 kernel (a new download of Kubuntu). With both the original 180.44
driver and the new 185.18.14 one I still get this problem. I don't know
if this is related but all my open tasks show on the taskbar of every

Dervish. Have you ever been able to send files to your HTC phone ? HTC
phones are very flakey when it comes to sending and receiving files via
bluetooth as they don't quite meet all bluetooth standards, (I have an
HTC phone myself that refuses to work 100%).

I forgot to mention that the first time I installed startupmanager in
Jaunty and ran it for the first time no password was requested, so this
also is a *** security vunerability ***

Just run a distribution update from the command line and got the following

In Jaunty kernel 2.6.28-11-generic 32 bit both mainwindow-state=hidden
and mainwindow-state=iconified do not work as liferea is just launched
as it would if just issuing 'liferea' in terminal. Liferea version is
1.4.26.

This problem does not seem to occur in Ubuntu 9.04 as I can browse the
phone, but still can't send a file to the phone (covered by a separate
bug report/openbox problem elsewhere).

Same problem here with 2.6.27-7 generic x86_64. Initial sound after
