The problem is: When I go to System Settings -> Brightness & Lock, the
slider has no effect. I can decrease the brightness slider to any level
and the actual brightness of the monitors app
ok, it is not ubuntu-docs. apparently an errant keystroke enabled me
to submit the bug before it was correct in any way. I'll try again (how
do I delete it? edit it? I'm the one who tried to make it! sorry!!)

The steps outlined in the official documentation are working fine - I
have set up the two monitors, and both are usable in many ways. But I
can not find a way to use software to adjust the brightness of them.

Supposedly this is answered, but I think it was because of the duplication.
Here's the output of this command

I have identified the package as unity-control-center, not ubuntu docs as I
reported erroneously at first.

"file-in-etc-not-marked-as-conffile"? (In case I am paranoid and don't
trust Google packages much or forum contributions from people not very
well known to me, or interested to know where definitive documentation
can be found in
How can there be a security bug in a French language pack? It looks like
