Gnome has the same problem
Selecting Kubuntu Human using the gnome-theme selector also causes
gnome to crash. On subsequent logins, nothing displays.
One also has to edit
desktop/gnome/interface/%gconf.xml
to make it work again

When lyx doesn't have the font for some tex commends it substitutes red
text.
Do you have the package latex-xft-fonts installed?
I think this should provide nice looking fonts for you.
Perhaps lyx should depend on the package latex-xft-fonts so that it
looks good by default.

hmmm - I don't think there was that dependance in dapper either.
The maintainers of this package are listed as the Debian LyX Maintainers
who probably don't read launchpad.
I suggest you report a bug to them. Lyx should depend on latex-xft-fonts

I have a similar problem with network manager.
When I plug in my wireless card the computer completely freezes and an I
have to do a hard reboot.
my wireless card uses the prism 2/2.5/3 chipset (it is a linksys wpc11
