The cifs kernel module currently ignores the nt_status USER_SESSION_DELETED
PDUs sent to it from remote SMB2+ peers and holds onto clearly dead SMB2+
sessions as a result.
This is causing issues, as it appears that the kernel only reconnects

used to poll once a second, which would hide legacy irq issues during

I've had the same problem with every 4.8 I tried including the one that
is in the brand new Ubuntu 16.10 (4.8.0-22) [via live cd, not
installed!]. My computer is a Surface Pro 3 which uses a Marvell chipset
in the docking station. I'm pretty sure I have updated to the latest
mwifiex in my installed

It Hung up when attempting to download Dropbox, reported it as being 100%

Bluez 5.40 works for me for both Designer keyboard and mouse. At this
time Ubuntu has not packaged it up into a DEB but I was able to build
and install it myself (search for bluez 5.40 to find how to download the
entire large source). I am using Ubuntu 16.04 but a newer kernel made by

I tried to install from mini.iso, ran into this, and am now hopelessly
hosed. Is there any way to fix the situation short of a complete
reinstall?

David, from Peter's comment (#5), it seems that the changes to
_quote_readline_by_ref() in bash_completion are no longer required.
Essentially, the fix lies elsewhere. Have I got that right Peter?

I use an Asus X200MA with Ubuntu 14.04 and have had the same issue i.e.
a black screen since the update from 3.13.0-40 to 3.13.0-45. The update
to 3.13.0-46 didn't help so I'm back to using 3.13.0-40.
I tried Christopher Penalver's suggestion and upgraded the BIOS to the
latest version 504 (from N

I recently installed Ubuntu 14.04.2 and the release notes include "In an
effort to support a wider variety of hardware on an existing LTS
release, the 14.04.2 point release will ship with an updated kernel and
X stack by default. This newer hardware enablement stack will be
comprised of the kernel
Okay, I got a lot further this time. Instead of
sudo apt-get build-dep xorg-server
I used
sudo apt-get build-dep xorg-server-lts-utopic
That installed a bunch of additional packages. When I executed the
"sudo fakeroot debian/rules binary" command it ran for a few minutes,
spit out thousands
I have not seen this problem with 14.04.
