There was some discussion if we could hack our way around this using

I did this and it works in that the toggle button does not disappear.
Toggling it off and on makes wifi go off and on. Toggling it again makes
the wifi go off and _not_ come back.
This might be partially triggered by the device going to sleep (blanking
the screen) or not. It's not 100% clear.

Public bug reported:
I don't know how to reproduce this, but gnome-terminal randomly crashes
approximately once a day. This hasn't been a problem before and I've
been using 12.04 since the first alpha. This usually happens when I'm
doing something with files, like removing a file, opening a file w
Ubuntu 12.04, a DHCP configured local network, and the same problem.
Putting lines to rc.local was not clean enough solution for me, so I
investigated this a little bit further. I had following symptoms:
/var/log/boot.log:
* Starting mDNS/DNS-SD daemon [OK]
* Stopping mDNS/DNS-SD daemon [OK]

Public bug reported:
I have a HP LP2475w monitor. Sometimes when the system has put it to
sleep, it fails in bringing it back up again. The screen remains blank.
Even changing virtual terminals with ctrl+alt+f1 does not work. Ssh'ing
in and running 'sudo service lightdm restart' makes it come back
Debug log attached.
However in this case it brought the monitor up but at the wrong
resolution (1024x768). That happens sometimes. Going to system settings
-> displays -> detect displays makes it detect the resoutions properly.
I'll try to get a new log which shows the case where it fails to bring
Here's the log when the monitor remains black.
