This is highly correlated with pause-on-start. I can't say 100% because
I haven't look at kern.log for all the Paused instances (and I'm not
sure I can correlate this easily now), but every time I looked it was
there.
And it's definitely not there during normal startups.

power cycle them multiple times a day. We're back on 4.2 everywhere.

As Serge mentioned in #4, this bug will cause breakage if using both "ip
netns" and lxc. As I'm sure you're aware, the OpenStack neutron/quantum
gateway makes heavy use of the "ip netns" feature, and it's valid to
have LXC containers on the server hosting tje quantum gateway.

For starters, the server Chris mentioned above didn't panic because the
kernel.softlockup_panic wasn't set to 1 on reboot. This is now fixed.
Then, we're still running 3.19 (all the nodes got rebooted to
3.19.0-33-generic). Let me know if you wish us to get back to 3.13.

Thanks for your update Rafael. Since nova-compute doesn't do anything
useful with qemu-nbd anyway, I'm going to try to "soft-disable" it
(divert + symlink to /bin/true), and we'll see if we can repro the
crashes. I'll keep you posted.
