This bug is also intermittently triggered by the use of a KVM switch.
Sometimes when switching back to this computer (Up-to-date ubuntu 8.10
64bits) the gnome user session ends after less than a second with the
user being logged out.

I have the same Problem. I have test the nvidia-glx-new and go back to
nvidia-glx. The kernel module mismatches. Can`t start X.
I was able to solve it by deleting the file /lib/linux-restricted-
modules/.nvidia_new_installed

I have observed the same packaging bug. Firefox will not discover the
helix plugin until symbolic links are created in
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins. These links should be created by the package
installer, but they are not.
A work around is to create the symbolic links manually as follows:
sudo ln
Confirmed using 2 different computers (with different cd drives) and 2
different data cd's.
The problem is obtaining an iso image from a cd . (Once an iso image exists,
burning it into a blank cd is not a problem).
Running feisty.
Kernel version: 2.6.20-16-generic
nautilus-cd-burner version: 2-1
My symptoms are the same on ubuntu 9.10 karmic. I use a static ip
address, but I decided to migrate from specifying my dns servers in
/etc/resolv.conf to adding a dns-nameservers line in
/etc/network/interfaces. After a full boot /etc/resolv.conf is blank
with only the comment lines.

Ok, but then the question is. How/why did this happen? Did ntpdate not
get called when I first installed package ntp? (Years ago), and my clock
has been always out of sync and drifting I did just notice? (possible)
or did the clock get out of sync when I turned off the machine for a
couple of weeks
Ok, after further research, it seems that ntp really is not working on my
system:
ntpdate returns "no server suitable for synchronization found" every time
regardless of what server I point it too, and ntpq -p does not have star next
to any server and reach, delay, offset, and jitter all show 0.
Never mind... Our firewall seems to block the ntp port. Synchronizing
with an internal server makes both ntp and ntddate work. Sorry for the
confusion.

This is a problem in gnome-shell as well: I just tested using Ubuntu
11.10 and jEdit does not show "Add to Favorites" like other apps do.

I am on X86-64. I just installed 11.04 and the bug is still here, both
in firefox and chromium. I have the icetea-plugin installed.
