My symptoms are the same on ubuntu 9.10 karmic. I use a static ip
address, but I decided to migrate from specifying my dns servers in
/etc/resolv.conf to adding a dns-nameservers line in
/etc/network/interfaces. After a full boot /etc/resolv.conf is blank

The addition of "nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX in
/etc/default/grub (with subsequent update-grub) used to work ok in my NB
(Toshiba Satellite Pro T110 009007) with 9.10 and 10.04 beta1. After installing
10.04 beta 2, it no longer works. Not even the notificatio

I don't know. The bluetooth in my notebook (a Toshiba T110) works
erratically in 9.10 (and even worse in 10.04), and since yesterday it is non
operative.
If I make it work, I will try to repeat the operation.

When you go out of range on the wifi or shut off the wifi radio with the
hardware button, ubuntu (9.10)'s network manager tries to reconnect for a while
then asks for a password.
When in fact, either the wifi radio has been turned off or I'm out of range.

I can also confirm that increasing the timeouts fixed this problem for
me... I only increased them to 60 and 32 seconds though... I have
twitter and facebook working now! Thanks Rodrigo

Same "wlan0: disassociating by local choice (reason=3)" here, but
without wicd.
Using NetworkManager, sometimes I can stay connected for a while, sometimes I
don't.
It only happens with the local university wireless (eduroam), which uses
WPA&WPA2.
No problem, on other networks with WEP security
