I have observed the same packaging bug. Firefox will not discover the
helix plugin until symbolic links are created in
/usr/lib/firefox/plugins. These links should be created by the package
installer, but they are not.
A work around is to create the symbolic links manually as follows:

The same problem, i though it was a hardware damage so I take a closer
look to my hard, then i reboot Ubuntu and still no sound i am using a
genius 5.1 CH, Then i boot up again the pc and i started mandriva and it
work fine, then i change the boot to previous Kernel and and sound was
restore.

Here is exactly the same. Mine is an Acer Aspire 1652 LMI with an ATI
Mobility Radeon X300. I hadn't this problem with Dapper. It's just happening
with Feisty Fawn. If I stop Desktop-effects, the problem disapears. I tried to
insall Beryl instead of Compiz (current desktop-effects in Fe
Confirmed using 2 different computers (with different cd drives) and 2
different data cd's.
The problem is obtaining an iso image from a cd . (Once an iso image exists,
burning it into a blank cd is not a problem).
Running feisty.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. I'm reviewing the logs in /var/log and I
don't find any significant error. The mouse works but the keyboard is totally
frozen. I'll try to find any aditional clue.

My laptop is a Fujitsu-Siemens S7020 with a i915 chipset with the same
problem. Before, I tried playing with options in /etc/default/acpi-
support and /etc/X11/xorg.conf with Dapper and pre-release Edgy with no
success.
Today I got it working by commenting out the SAVE_VIDEO_PCI_S
I have found appropriate options in /etc/default/acpi-support so that
suspend works with my laptop. Additional comments are reported in Bug

The same problem with a Canon LiDE30 (Bus 002 Device 008: ID 04a9:220e
Canon, Inc. CanoScan N1240U/LiDE 30). It works properly under Dapper and

Problem: Whenever I restart the session (Logout --> Close session), when
entering the new session, gnome-panel crashes, it blinks 3 or 4 times and
finally it disappear, showing o
It is solved.
The problem was the gnome bookmark-applet
(http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/bookmark-applet) I had installed.
Once removed this applet, the problem has disappeared, and when reinstalled the
applet, the problem appears again.
So the solution is to remove this applet.

Beryl was running when I tried to open an AVI file with VLC player. The
AVI was on a NTFS partition automatically mounted by Ubuntu. VLC opened
and closed right after. Beryl crashed and metacity started to run.
