I have tried all the qt applications I have installed (qtconfig, picard,
last.fm application) and they all show weird symbols instead of text.
I'm attaching a screenshot showing the problem in picard. I apparently
doesn't happen in any non-qt

I just tried setting the environment variable LANG=C before running
picard and that solves the problem completely. When the problem occurred
LANG was "en_DK.UTF-8".

I've been working on an update for gtk-redshift to be able to provide
more information to the user. That has meant that I've had to rewrite
most of the process management code and for that reason I'm not sure how
this discussion applies any more. If you want to take a look the code is

The workaround is to ensure that redshift can start successfully at boot
even though network and such is not up yet. This may be possible with
some geoclue providers. Otherwise a configuration file with the location
entered manually can be created.
