Sorry for the last post. I had to check for a login first... oops... i
already were logged in.
So I have the same problem on Kubuntu 8.10!
Here first some SW- and HW-Details:
SW:
Kubuntu 8.10 Intrepid x64
Kernel: 2.6.27-9-generic
FGLRX-Version: 8.56.4
Catalyst Version: 8.53
OpenGL-Version: 1.4 (
still getting the crash on kernel 2.6.27-11-generic (Kubuntu 8.10) and
catalyst driver 9.1 (Jan. 28, 2009).
still no solution anyone?

even so, i think amdxmm.so is related to Xvideo, because after deleting or
renaming
it,X starts in dual-head (xinerama) mode, but there never are Xv-Overlays
available
anymore. (information from "xvinfo" in the console). not in single- nor
dual-head-mode.
