Editing /etc/grub.d/10_linux sort of worked for me. Now, the corrupted
image flashes briefly on the screen before displaying the uncorrupted
splash. It's definitely an improvement, but something still isn't quite
right.
Also, don't forget to run update-grub after editing the file.

The .deb (psmouse-alps-dkms_0.10_all.deb) worked on my Dell E6510 with
the exception of the Pointer Speed settings. I don't care much about
those settings anyway. The fact that I can now type without
accidentially tapping the touchpad is a HUGE relief.

I experience same problem regularly. It does only happen when I'm using
VirtualBox, but, I'm almost always using VirtualBox, and, my machine in
only under heavy load when VirtualBox is running.

I had this problem on an Acer One AD250 with BIOS V1.03. I updated the

I found the code that was printing the "deferred extract mass sync"
line. The next line was a Sync() call. That appears to be where it was
hanging. So I tried the sync command from bash. It hung. Then it dawned

monitors. I think the coordinates are probably off screen. I''m using
the nVidia configuration applet to set my screen to twin display with
the primary on the right (slightly lower that the larger left hand

I found my notifications. They're off the screen above the panel. It
seems that the notification are showing on the primary monitor but are
positioned relative to the height of the secondary monitor. I also
should mention that the monitors are both absolutely positioned. They're
