I can confirm this sound bug in Vmware Workstation 6.0.2 build-59824.
It appears five times. First time at ~10% and later four times at ~90%
during the hardware detection.

During vmware-install.pl you are asked for the solution

During the installation of the latest Hardy updates, I got this error:

Got that error message while trying to upgrade from a fresh gutsy
installation (with all patches) to hardy.
A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
The Error seems to be fixed today.
I switched from the German mirror to the main archive server and the upgrade
works like it should without any error message.

i can confirm this bug on my eeepc 1000he!
the eeepc_laptop-module does not load and none of the Fn+X shortcuts
