I can confirm that one of the latest security updates for Dapper
disabled the nvidia driver on my son's computer. The error message said
too it couldn't find the nvidia driver, so I switched back to the nv
driver so now he doesn't have any DRI support for games anymore :-(

Well, it is simple change to 'allow' people to do this without loosing
their work and the discouragement lies in the extra effort to pick the
file up from the personal garbage bin rather than from /tmp. A
preference could control this behaviour of sysvinit to be turned on or
off.

work just by enabling "all users may connect to this network" in network
manager GUI.
Now the questions is, why did that change from 15.10 to 16.04? It is not
disabled by default, instead of being enabled like it s

Down or Log Out, ubuntu occassionally delays for a minute or two before
it actually shuts down or logs out. There are no error messages or any
other indications of error except for the delay. This happens

Currently testing with network-manager 1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 from
proposed (should probably be out within the week, so it's in 16.04.1?)
Have not been able to reproduce after 10 suspends. So I think it got
fixed.

Okay, I stand corrected, it seems to be fixed for my laptop, but not
desktop (I get the ethernet icon, even though I only se WiFi on it when
rebooting. After logging in, it returns to wifi icon... Running nmcli
dev, it indeed shows it's a wifi connection. Not sure why it works
differently on my lap
@seb128: I did some debugging. While this

since systemd, it was not so easy. I did found out though, that when
changing to tty1-6 and loggin in, then changing to tty7 I can use
networkmanager from lightdm. But not before loggin
@seb128: I tried two things.. First i used the NetworkManager.service
from 15.10 which was a bit different, but same result.
Then I reverted back and got the full log from syslog. here:
