This bug needs to be resolved in Final. Colin do you need to work with
the kernel team to have the packages correctly pull in the correct
headers.

Well during 8.04 Intel pushed heavily to have special compile flags
added just for new Atom based CPUs. This is what lpia is, it's x86 but
with some special instructions that where supposed to just be in Atom
based CPUs. This apparently did not pan out and the speed benefit was
not seen.

I'll have some info later. What I can say now is the same machine works
correctly with the Debian installer. It will install the PAE kernel &
headers. Though Ubiquity will not. So the script (assuming D-I uses it)
may not be the issue.

The dmi-available-memory script is working fine. I've test it on Dell
systems.. as well as the test system I am using now (a Lenovo Thinkpad
T61). All report the available memory. The Dell systems only had 2 - 3
gigs of memory. So I have to use my Thinkpad T61 for testing.

That reaffirms dmi-available-memory is doing the correct thing. For a wide
variety of systems. So something is up in Ubiquity then and not external to it.
So where we stand now with both installers using dmi-available-memory is:

Debian Installer -> working fi

Ouch. So from a Canonical prospective this is bad. For the Dell XPS 13
we are actually under contract to enable it in the standard
distribution. One of those is microphone. So we have an issue for this
it even being certified for Karmic.

That is odd. Are you using 9.10 with your test? But even with 9.04 or 8.04
if the master channel is muted the headphones should not be hearing anything,
can you check the mixers? This is most likely a issue with the audio driver.

This problem is not fixed. Trying DVD with d-i installer from Aug 29 on
a machine with 4gigs of memory, it did not install the PAE kernel.
If you are using /proc/meminfo , remember that only displays the amount
of memory the kernel can see. So any tool dependent on that data will
fail.

Make sure you don't have the kill switch on the side of your
machine cut on. That could be your issue..if the rfkill switch is on then
wireless isn't going to work.

Trying to reproduce the behavior from Network Manger has proved not very
easy. In the code this happens when network manager is trying to set the
host name.
I have summited a patch upstream. To at least fix the invalid hostname
file. I have attached patch below.

I was actually able to reproduce the issue of Network Manger putting a bad
/etc/hosts using Fedora with the following steps:
- remove hostname set from /etc/sysconfig/network
- remove all contents of /etc/hosts
- reboot
- Network manager puts invalid /etc/hosts

It looks like with the new ubiquity it is now unlikely we will get in a
state where Network Manger will try and fall back. But basically if the
hostname isn't set & nothing is in /etc/hosts. Network Manger tries to
create it's own /etc/hosts
Trying this with an Ubuntu install I'm unable to recreat

You are not using a Intel 5350 as from the pic the WiMAX is a 2400 ..
and should say "WiMax Link 5350". Ensure that the wireless card you have you
can see with "lspci -vvnn". Also ensure "iwlagn" driver is loaded, this is what
the wifi card uses. You can see this by checking "ls

I'm using a 5350 in my Thinkpad X301 right now with 9.10. Please try a
9.10 live cd and see if you are still having the issue. Wifi works fine. WiMax
is not yet fully supported though.

Yes. So the reason this has returned is we are now using Kernel
Mode Settings KMS. Brandon can you try booting the system with
"nomodeset" added to the kernel command line of the 9.10 kernel.
Let me know the results. Also tracking down a system with the AUO
panel to resolve t

Can you run "lspci -vvnn" and attach the output to the bug. For my 5350
here is the output. The 5350 is supported fine in 9.04 also.

I also just realized you have 8.10 in your first post. I would suggest
you move to 9.10. This bug is invalid. As the 5350 is not supported under 8.10.

The problem with option #1 is we would need lawyers to qualify if it is
doable using this method to meet requirement for OEMs. This would be timely
process, and more then likely would not make it for the 10.10 cut off.

This is correct. According to Wikipeidia the media I'm putting in there
is, a BD-R, is only writeable once. Don't have a BD-RE yet. But that is the
read/write version.
But it says the "disk type 00" .. which I'm not sure if that is
supposed to be differnent for a BD-R. If

The issue is fixed in 2.30.2-0ubuntu5. Though wouldn't it be better
if "Show list of users" was a sub menu of "Show the screen for choosing who
will log in"?
