startup, the process logs that it's shutting down and is gone. I assume

As I wrote well over a year ago, after rebuilding the package from
source, the problem was gone, and has been gone since then. I've since
upgraded my install to Ubuntu 7.10... so either bincimap hasn't been
updated since last year, or it's still running fine.

attention? With a multi-window messenger, that's a common enough case -
sod's law has it that everyone will try to reach you when you're afk for
your lunch break. So the alt-tab behaviour you describe is helpful, but
still doesn't so
I guess it might help if I explain that the reason I'm so pushy on this
issue is that I really would like Ubuntu to remain the OS with the best
UX out there. I'm not doing this to be annoying ;)

So, I was trying to resync the device, get everything in a nice state,
give you the requested info. Then move the padlock-sha module back,
reboot, and see things fail.
Turns out that things fail sooner now. The padlock-sha module is moved
to a safe place, so shouldn't be messing with things. Then
Shortly after I posted the previous comment, I got the computer to lock
up without the Android phone connected. Since then I've been paying
attention to whether it happens with the phone connected a lot better,
and it seems unrelated. Sorry for that inadvertent misdirection.

After upgrading from oneiric to precise, I found that my synaptics
touchpad was always registering "clicks" by tapping on the pad. If I
check the system settings, the "Enable mouse clicks with touchpad"
setting is *off*, however. Chan

recognized as "Munic" - that is not the correct spelling in English.
Alternatively, the German international spelling would be Muenchen, and

crashing a lot.

That was quite possibly the worst time to report a bug. I got the
oneiric update notification just afterwards, and upgraded now. Will
still report if something like this happens, of course, and provide
details.

Sound plays back for a split second every time I unpause it, and then
goes mute. Video playback from the same share via totem works fine, so
probably not a networking-related problem.
The same machine played music just fine from the same share before
upgrading from oneiric to precise.
