I'm using an ndiswrapper driver and I'm having this problem, I can't
connect to unencrypted networks with network-manager-gnome.
The spinner goes on indefinitely.
I currently don't have an open network right here, but if you need the
logs I can open my network and get the logs for you. I'll also

After I upgraded to ndiswrapper 1.23 I couldn't connect to WPA encrypted

I managed to compare the output of NetworkManager on Fedora, where it
works properly, and I found that the problem was related to a wrong
wpa_supplicant driver selection made by Ubuntu's NetworkManager.
I downloaded the latest NetworkManger Ubuntu sources (network-
manager_0.6.
I posted fixed packages on my website. I'm no Ubuntu maintainer and the
fixes are quite ugly, but things are currently working and you can get
NetworkManager to play nicely with ndiswrapper. If you have trouble
getting it to work, just grab the latest ndiswrapper from
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge
If you still get problems when using my packages, just try to upgrade
ndiswrapper to the latest version which can be downloaded from
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/ , you'll have to manually compile
and install it.

Under Gutsy Gibbon there's no /etc/qt3/qtrc file provided by libqt3-mt,
but under Feisty Fawn this file is provided.
This means that QT applications like VirtualBox look very ugly under
Gutsy Gibbon. Fonts are too large on my system, and widgets are like
those from very old motif applications.

I've been investigating this problem further, and I'm finding a pattern:
The wirelessly connected laptop is not receiving responses to the
multicast DNS queries, but the other machines are actually answering the
queries, which are leaving their network interfaces. Look at this dumps:

are no errors as to the latest Ubuntu updates.

I got everything to work properly installing the newest ndiswrapper
module from http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/, then deleting and
reinstalling the Windows drivers.
I have a Broadcom BCM4318 on a Compaq Presario 2515. It works with the
drivers available from Compaq. The driver I got comes from
idn't use the bcm43xx module.

Sometimes I open a terminal and try to login to a remote server, just to
be greeted by a command-line-based prompt asking for my password.
Whenever that happens, it is ssh-agent instead of gnome-keyring that is
providing the SSH agent capabilities:
$ echo $SSH_AUTH_SOCK

I have located a way to disable ssh-agent by commenting out the use-ssh-
agent line from file "/etc/X11/Xsession.options". But even after doing
this it is not guaranteed that the $SSH_AUTH_SOCK variable will be set
when I open a new terminal, even while doing so several minutes after I
have logged
I get this problem sometimes in Ubuntu 15.04. Logging out and then
logging back in usually fixes it.

When connecting to an OpenVPN network with NetworkManager, I see these
same messages just after dnsmasq reports "using nameserver ...," then
the system fails to use those nameservers. This means that my system is
not using the DNS servers that correspond to the VPN, but those that
were already set

@michael.heuberger, it works fine for me already with the packages
currently available from the Ubuntu repositories. If you downgraded the
DNS packages, you can upgrade them to the latest version. It works very
well for me. Just upgrade your whole Ubuntu 15.04 system.

I can confirm this bug. I created a file with pinning settings in
/etc/apt/preferences.d, but aptitude or the Gnome tools used by Ubuntu
ignored it (apt-get worked fine). I moved the contents of the file to
/etc/apt/preferences (file) and everything was OK.
