I can confirm this on AMD64 architecture as well - system was an AMDx2,
1GB RAM. This was a friends PC, so I don't have all the HW details, but
I will update once I can get the info.
This install was attempted w/the Desktop CD (AMD64 arch). We
downloaded/burned twice to be sure, and CD's passed me
I had this issue on 11/25/08 as well, however the issue resolved itself.

The issue is not with the kernel not recognizing the 4GB of RAM, it's
with the Chipset Memory Controller. Although the CPU supports PAE, your
chipset does not (called "Enhanced Addressing Modes" by Intel). You can
