You're right, update-cracklib is called in postinst. update-cracklib
fails if /etc/cracklib/cracklib.conf doesn't exist:

cracklib-runtime should call update-cracklib for this purpose. Cracklib-

I gathered the information from my ThinkPad Edge E520 11433NG. It has
Core i5 integrated Intel graphics and a AMD Radeon HD 6630M. The Radeon
part seems to be muxless and thus vgaswitcheroo to DDIS freezes the
system (Debian testing with distribution kernel 3.1.0).
