I'm having this problem on my HP Pavilion dv7, as I did on my HP
Pavilion dv6. I'm currently using Isadora 10 64-bit with kernel
2.6.35-23-generic, (and I experienced the same problem with normal
Ubuntu Maverick 64-bit). I can change the brightness as normal using the
fn keys and with the normal Gn

Gpointing-device-settings works just fine, but all settings return to
their original default values after reboot--touchpad is enabled, even if
I disabled it before restarting, circular scrolling is disabled, etc.

After recent updates in Oneiric Beta, I lose all keyboard input after
logging in. (Keyboard input works in LDM, and will work in a recovery
session, but as soon as I log in to Unity or Unity 2D, the computer will
not respond to any keyboard input.) I can't switch to a TTY term
Oops, my mistake. I made a script to disable my touchpad and set it run
on startup:
xinput set-prop 11 "Device Enabled" 0
But the id for my touchpad keeps changing, I guess based on whether I
have my USB mouse plugged in or not, making 11 the id for my keyboard
instead of my touchpad.

I second this, as it is very inconvenient when the panel is absent or
inaccessible for some reason. I finally managed to find the command to
log out of Gnome... (Information like that is hard to get when the panel
isn't working, since Alt-F2 is part of the panel and therefore also

complexity of having options, and the potential difficulty of attempting
to use software that has actual functionality. Where would we be without

This whole situation is preposterous.
So...does anyone have any idea when this will be fixed? This is a pretty
significant usability bug for Unity, as you can no longer paste commands
to run from instructions on the Internet, or copy and paste a file name
to, say, edit text file by running "gedit
