Unfortunately there seems to be not much interest in xpaint.
For most of the tasks I now use kolourpaint - no gif support, worse handling ...

(without using the workaround) was not fixed in Raring
(but in Saucy) I doubt the the synchronization will happen.

but the google-earth version provided with the googleearth-packe in Ubuntu reps.
