After upgrading to Gutsy (Ubuntu 7.10-amd64) I never had a problem with
xserver again. There was no need to read "/var/crash/_usr_bin_Xorg.0.crash" so
far.
I don't know if this issue is of any importance

After I got GUI running again, I tried to finish the uncompleted Feisty upgrade;
I started Update Manager again and after "check" I got reported to download
four packages although only two were shown...
