As per Timo's hint, I reverted back to nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 from
the repos and am not experiencing this issue anymore. Of course, it
would be desirable to have working 319 drivers, to get all the
performance fixes crucial to OpenGL applications etc.

it very annoying to switch keyboard layouts. Even if the appropriate box

Some applications are too slow to keep up with the new window resizing
behavior. This makes the whole process look ugly, because the window
gets filled with the black background from the window decoration.
I suspect this happens with those applications that need to re-render
Sebastien, this is a permanent issue and always happens. Also happens
with the function keys (FN + F10 / F11) on my keyboard.
I will try whether it also occurs in other DEs but Unity.

When unlocking the screen, any window that is restored from a minimized
state is not drawn (it is just black).

It's hard to reproduce this bug, thus I am not sure whether this would
help. I will keep monitoring for a while whether it occurs again, and if
not, close the bug. Otherwise I will do the tests you recommended.

I would also like to inquire a status update on this. HP Elitebooks are
the staff laptops at a university and agency that I work for, and this
bug is a considerable nuisance to those users. It would be great if this
