Have the same Unity problem with FGLRX + Radeon HD4550, Ubuntu classic
(Gnome desktop) works and can be used as a fallback option.

If you try to resize the window by using the right lower corner of the
window, it gives you a popup window instead when you left click. Other
corners and sides works fine for resizing the window.
