Still haven't found a way to get rid of this blinking cursor.
It is not only the case with Unity(tested with Ubuntu 12.10 fresh
install), but also with xfce (tested with Xubuntu 12.10 fresh install,
fglrx install per apt-get install fglrx fglrx-amdcccle, all updates
installed).

What I have tried so far:
- Disabling KMS explicitly at grub prompt: no change
- Disabling vesafb: blank screen
- Disabling Plymouth: no change
Another thing I tried right now, was installing the AMD Catalyst 12.11

Update: As BorisH mentioned, the bug is still there after updating to
Catalyst 12.11 Beta 8. It does not happen that often anymore for me, but
it still happens.

I propose to close this bug. I still get an error message with my
original kubuntu installation, which is now at 10.04. I guess that in my
old installation something has gone wrong with the updates or with some
changes made by me. I am not an expert and could easily mess something
up. But with a ne
The same problem (external interface DP1 showing as disconnected,
sometimes showing the resolutions) happens to me on my Macbook Air 4,2
since already Ubuntu 12.10. This affects also derivatives like Mint and
also other distributions like Archlinux. From this I would conclude that
it is a general p
I can also confirm this bug. It happens with or without wlan active, on
AC and on battery for me. I haven't found out, what triggers this kernel
panic. The only thing i noticed, is that it seems to happen, if I do not
use the Netbook and it just idles in X, but also not sure with this, it

Dear Christopher
Thank you for your interest and time in making ubuntu better.

Workaround:
Change ghostscripts default pagesize from Letter to A4:
/usr/share/ghostscript/[version]/Resource/Init/gs_init.ps
OpenOffice seems to delay setting the page size till the ps trailer
while all other progs set in the ps header. Someway in the path, that
definition seems to get lost...
You're my saviour!
Removing the SD card (that I totally forgot about) "enables" suspend on
