got the same problem with german specuial characters like ä ö ü.
I cant open a file via strigi if name or path contains special
characters. it gives me an error message that it couldn't read the file.

Strigi has some Problems with german umlaut like ä ö ü on my machine.
It didnt display them correctly and if a filename contains this
charakters the file cant be open because the umlaut is encode in some
other strange characters. eg
