I'd just like to add that my QuickCam Messenger does not work either in
the Jaunty (kernel 2.6.28-11)
I've tried several solutions to get it to work in the mean time, but
nothing has worked so far.

I would love to see this issue resolved as soon as possible. I use
glables frequently to create business cards, lables, stickers, etc...
and because of the issues with glables 2.2.3 under jaunty, I am no
longer able to even use the program. I've resorted to fudging my
projects in OOo Writer for n
I can confirm, this is still an issue in ubuntu 9.04.
the required packages can be downloaded from the debian-sid online
repos. but theres a lot of other packages that 'ogre' depends on, that
would need to be installed also. some of them are also available in the
new karmic repository

Ok, After finally getting my table set up like i wanted, and saving it,
when i went to open the table to start adding data, OOo crashed, and now
crashes every time i try to open, select, or right click on the table in
the new database, or any of my old databases.

i also had the exact same issue as gusvegabol when trying to use
easycam2, no go.
the camera is detected when plugged in, but as a microphone/usb device.
no video device is created for it.
