Having a similar problem. Keyboard stops working at some point. Using a laptop
with a USB keyboard and both keyboards stop. Similar behavior with the mouse
happened in parallel once but not all times that this problem happened.
Note - I had a problem with the X system and tried using recovery to
So turns out this is an xorg issue, at least for me.
First, pressing Alt-Ctrl-F1 worked.
Second, seems that some of the xorg use of the mouse and keyboard changed. Im
no expert but if I get it right, your xorg.conf should not define mouse and
keyboard any more. The nvidia-xconfigure isn't update
board" - if you find them in
an un-commented line, it's probably the same issue.
Ubuntu guys, to summarize :
nvidia-xconfigure, "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and (possibly the
recover-X11 boot option) corrupts xorg.conf (w.r.t. the mouse / keyboard)

By default the pin 0x1a if I remerber well, was not connected at all. I
found out that the 0x12 (internal mic) was (override) connected by
default but if I disconnect it, it seems to solution the problem of the
mono sounding front speakers and makes now the front speakers output to

while and under ubuntu 10.10 the load was near by 0.0 with Gnome 2,

I made some tests, I removed catalyst 12.4 and rebooted. The load was
lower then before the kernel update around 1.10 -1.20. So to be shure
that the catalyst driver was the problem of the incrased load, I
installed it again and rebooted. The load was still by around 1.10

Thank you Lionel for your explanations, this is what I understood. Is
there any way to avoid dbus of looking for gnome on a xfce4 system wich
is quiet strange? And do I have to open an other bug report for the
first error about polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 GLib-CRITICAL?

I had troubles with installing dropbox. When I had uninstalled dropbox,
the error appeared. Fresh install Ubuntu 12.10 64bit. Before an HDD in
july crash, i was running 12.04 without any problems. THX !
