I made some tests today and don't think that this is a kernel bug. If I use the keyboard (funktion key combination fn+) to suspend to ram the touchpad works fine after waking up again. Suspend to ram by closing the lid leads to the described erratic behaviour. I tested this with - 11.10 installed
