I have upgraded from an Ubuntu hardy to an Intrepid, using the standard
procedue.
After rebooting, I discovered that the system was very slow and went to
freeze after a few hours of work (see this bug:

For me, it worked when I ran the install program with the migration
assistant option disabled.
Run the live CD, and then, instead of clicking on the 'Install to disk'
icon, just open a terminal and execute "sudo ubiquity –no-migration-
assistant". I am not sure this is the exact name of the option

p.s. I am leaving for holidays tomorrow - I won't be able to access this
computer for a week or two.

I was trying to upgrade my wordpress blog from 2.33 to 2.5.
I downloaded the zip version of the file (I can provide it if you need it),
unzipped it, and tried to upload it to my website with filezilla.

description: it only happens if I login into Windows.
If I run Windows7 but not login and then reboot, the problem doesn't shows up.

Sorry, I have resolved this bug and it happened to be a duplication of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/482757 . It was
caused by the software Dell Data Center on Windows that corrupted the
MBR partition after the first Windows login.

I am not getting this error anymore.
I have not noticed the message since a lot of time and I don't remember when it
disappeared, sorry, maybe it has been when I updated the computer to Ubuntu
8.10.
If I do:
$: sudo grep -r 'Could not connect to database' /var
I don't get any remarkable res
I can confirm this problem with Ubuntu 9.10. It should at least check
the disk space required to import everything and check if it can fit in
the new home partition. for a newbie it would be very difficult to
recognize this problem and fix it.
