Intrepid regression: carriage-return required after finger scan
After figuring out some video did not play too well with standard
totem-gstreamer, vlc nor gnome-mplayer i also installed totem-xine and gxine
(video ran fine in totem-xine)
now i got the same issue in a new x86 ubuntu intrepid ibex.
As someone posted here setting hue values with xvattr is reset
I put everything in the sound panel to alsa, that makes most stuff work (flash
was still a bit strange from time to time)
I installed vlc-plugin-alsa (i think without it it still uses) and also put vlc
to alsa output (preferences -> select the advanced box -> go to audio - filters
and select als
Ok after some more testing: I still got problems with pulseaudio, my fix in the
end:
-put anything to alsa (everything in your audio settings and also some software
like vlc, amarok and probably others needs to be set to alsa
-sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio
-gone are my sound skip problems in vlc

lol ubuntu-desktop is just the meta package, removing ubuntu-desktop
does nothing ... (it's not like you're going to end up with an empty

my bad! Just ran memtest against the suspect machine and it seems there
is a faulty memory module! Going to run a new transfer during the night,

Same here ... I wanted to change date/time and some other specific settings to
my locale nl_BE.utf8 but keep my ubuntu in English.
when selecting this language in the language selector I also got translations
inside firefox, thunderbird etc ... even though I set in the language selector

issue should be solved with kernel 2.6.35 (just setting up a raid 6
array on the same card with 5 disks and it seems to work. Gonna do a
