Firstly you are right, I should have said "the option is quite deep in the menu

To make a suggestion, if binding the Escape key is not going to produce
any result, then the interface should be configured to disallow it and a
log message should be produced for any time it is set and/or used.
So if I Click 'Grab' and Press Escape, then the binding should not
be set and a error

I would say it is not. The OP on this bug reported that the drive did
spin down but then spun back up.
Bug 595138 is a failure of the hdparm scripts to read /etc/hdparm.conf
and properly set the spindown option.

dependency nor even recommends. gdm behaves correctly and depends on
accountsservice.
I'm inclined to believe that it's behaving incorrectly with regards the
dbus interaction, but that's all way over my head. Let me know if you

With me it's not just the mouse but the whole system. It gets to "will
now halt LVM Volume Group" and stops. After awhile it goes into command
screen mode and just sits there until I turn the power off. Anything I'm
doing wrong as I am newbie

I found the answer, well in my case at least. I had a couple of dead USB
sticks (USB 1.1) attached to the machine. When I removed them everything
worked fine, Might be worth a check.
I am nor sure it was cos they were dead or cos they were 1.1.

Before printing, the "Policies" tab shows the Enabled state checked
(checked as well are Accepting Jobs and Shared).
