Similar situation as Steven Susbauer. Adding usb_storage to
/etc/modules did load it at boot time (whereas lsmod listed it as not
loaded before I added it to /etc/modules).

I didn't use a snapshot, if that's what you mean. I upgraded through
fiesty. So no, I suppose not. Would that have made a difference? I
hadn't ever installed ntop before, so either way it would have had to
create those directories for the first time.

As soon as radeon module is loaded while still in the initrd, monitor
goes blank, and then displays "out of sync" errors. Exhibits similar
behavior running Arch Linux kernel-2.6.33.2 . Also tested ubuntu-kernel
2.6.34.2 from xorg-edgers ppa and still exhibits same behavior.

I procured a single-link DVI cable from a local thrift store. Removed
old VGA cable and adapter and installed new DVI cable. Powered on
computer and removed radeon.modeset=0 from grub kernel command. Still
getting "out of sync" errors on monitor during and after boot. Rebooted
and kept radeon.m
booted with radeon.modeset=0 removed and added video=1024x768...@70 or
video=1024x768...@60, both known good resolutions/refresh rates for this
monitor. Still get "out of sync" error on monitor.
