it could just be your cpu throttling down differently in linux than
windows. Check the cpufreq applet in the gnome bar or cat
/proc/cpuinfo. Basically 65% of 800MHz is better for power savings
than ~25% of 2.26GHz (in my case), so linux throttles down the cpu b/c
it can get away with it with the

This happened to me on intrepid/jaunty/karmic when I switched to the
ath5k driver. I have this problem right now. I don't think it's
networkmanager's fault. It seems the previous connected network shows
up in the scanning list before real networks do, and then it doesn't go
away. I'm on a think
I was using madwifi before, and i didn't have this problem. One
cumbersome workaround is to edit the pm-utils scripts to unload and
reload the ath5k module on resume. I did something similar for madwifi
for a different issue.

Happened in yesterday's update, but I can't figure out which package is
responsible. Ondemand governor runs high all the time (according to
cpufreq applet). Conservative does too. Powersave runs low all the
time. My computer is hotter than usual, and top reports low cpu us

this is actually a problem with rsyslogd. Top reports 100% cpu usage.
/etc/init.d/rsyslog stop fixes it.

why not upgrade rsyslogd? Using debian testing's 4.4.2 package fixed it
for me.

with 2.6.32. First suspend is usually ok. Second will hang the laptop

Yes, it hangs with 020632-generic mainline kernel, and is fine with
2.6.31-ubuntu14. Oddly enough, it works fine while at the GDM prompt.
It is only after gnome login that it will hang. I considered a compiz
issue, disabled it, no effect.
