I tried a few kernels (4.0.0-2, 4.1.0-1, 4.2.0-7), installing linux-
headers, linux-headers-generic and linux-image-generic. Booting into
each of them left me with a non-working keyboard and mouse. Any
suggestions?

Public bug reported:
Upgraded today from 11.04 to 11.10.
If I click on Home Folder in the launcher nothing happens, except my desktop
icons are gone.
Tested both in unity and unity-2d.
syslog:
kernel: [ 221.512388] nautilus[2754]: segfault at 8 ip b4803f99 sp bf952320
error 4 in libgconf-2.s
This happened to me several times during the last days (including today
with up-to-date Quantal), while scrolling or switching tabs in Firefox.
I'm not using Virtualbox.
