I have added your PPA and the upgraded the following packages via synaptic from
version 180.44 to 185.18.14:
nvidia-180-kernel-source
nvidia-180-libvdpau
nvidia-180-modaliases
nvidia-glx-180
I then re-booted, altered my nvidia-settings to "separate X screen" and
logged out and in again.
The bug
The computer with this problem has got 4 scsi drives.
If I drop into busybox each boot whith hardy, it's just 2 times out of 3 whith
jaunty (it stars more quickly)
I never see this bug on the ones whith sata drives.
Is this a scsi problem (boot latency ?) ?

Actually I was using version 177 of the nvidia driver in Intrepid (which
doesn't get offered for Jaunty) so maybe it is the driver.
The clone option seems to have re-appeared in version 180 though which
is what I wanted to use originally, the separate X screen was a work-
around for not having "cl
I had the exact same problem just after upgrading on Sunday. Rebooting
the system eventually fixed the problem (it took me 48 hours to figure
since I am not used to rebooting when I do not need to).
I suspect some older dynamic libraries were still in use along with new
ones.

I do not have this problem anymore. I am running Ubuntu 8.10 "Intrepid Ibex"
(beta) and havent had these problems for a very long time.
Strangely enough, I read somewhere that someone tried the beta and experienced
ext3-fs errors...

I just made further tests and I can add a few things:
- opengl is not guilty - had a GL screensaver (hypertorus) running for hours
- the MTRR error does NOT seem to be the root cause of the problem; I
systematically get an MTRR at boot
It seems ACPI is the issue:
- causes the above symptoms

And not a single problem with Kubuntu-8.04.

Also, it can be nice with such baloons, because they can help you.
They indicate that the network card works, and is able to detect if there is
cable in or not.
Good for trouble-shooting.
Since people don't plug/unplug cable so often, this wont result in "more
baloons".
If you want to get rid of
This is a bug.
I know how to uninstall software. I goto Add/Remove, select the software, and
uncheck it, then it uninstalls.
Or, I use apt-get remove, or synaptic.
This dumb thing, just wont uninstall!
