I'm not sure if it worked or not, but here is what I did to try to
upload .crash
apport-cli -f
It asked what type of problem, I selected "1: Display (X.org)", which isn't
quite right since this is for Wayland, but there was not a better answer.

I give up. I have spent over 8 hours trying to report bug 1789962.
Nothing suggested works. I can create the .crash files, see a traceback,
etc. but it is never uploaded. I think that the bug reporting tools
don't take wayland into account and silently barf. If Ubuntu ever

There appears to be no way to report a Wayland / gnome-shell crash. I
can create the .crash files, but they are never uploaded. I have spent
over 8 hours trying to do this but none of the suggestions have worked.
I think the bug reporting tools are broken for Wayland, but I am tired
of fighting it

In trying to upload .crash data for bug 1789962 "gnome-shell segfaults

I have been trying to report this problem through bug 1789962, but with
little luck (.crash files were not uploaded). Now I tried reporting
against xwayland instead of gnome-shell. I also installed more .dbg
packages for xwayland, wayland, kodi and gnome-shell.

I am seeing the same behavior with a Dell Precision 3420 (Service Tag
318HFB2). No NVIDIA, just i7-6700 HD430, 1 or 2 monitors turned on.
Worked fine using defaualt DM (Unity) then installed gnome-shell and it
broke.

Testing Kodi 18.0-BETA1 Git:20180828-f21b477 on Ubuntu 18.04 running
Wayland gnome-shell. Everything is fine, however, whenever I turn the
display off and leave Kodi running, then gnome-shell segfaults and my
session is killed.

There was NO crash file. I followed the steps above. They pointed to
documents that said that I needed to install debug symbols.
Anyway, it appears that there is no core file because my core ulimit is
0. This seems to be a side-effect of installing 18.04 on top of 16.04,
but I can't go back to loo
After much grief, I realized that apport was disabled (I probably did
this in 12.04 days when it would constantly bug me to report something).
I had to do a complete uninstall and reinstall of it. Anyway, it works
now.
ubuntu-bug, however, does not appear to be doing it's thing. I'm running

Lirc 0.10.0-2 is never configured after installation. Manually running
"dpkg-reconfigure lirc " also does not do anything. I also noticed that
/usr/share/lirc/remotes is empty, which is where I had my config file
for Ubuntu 16.04.
This was an upgrade install from 16.04.

Also, I notice that the keyboard randomly looses its connection
(sometimes in one day, sometimes a week, typically every 2-3 days). When
